Research can be expensive and arts organisations find it difficult to set aside sums from their marketing budgets to do it. Enthusiasm and a feeling of 'we've only got one stab at this' can result in huge and unwieldy briefs. Reports that sit on the shelf don't offer value for money. Your research findings need to be a working document. Time spent on planning your research is time well spent.
