Accessing information to support audience development

Added on: 29th February 2008

Summary:

This tool kit looks at some of the data that is available from public sources which can help you in designing and delivering new audience strategies.

Some of this data will be especially useful for participatory and community arts organisations - as it is tied into neighbourhood statistics. In each case we try to suggest how it can be used to support you in your work of developing new cultural participation. When the mantra is that policy and practice should be evidence-based, where better to look first than to a range of official statistics?

Within the region there is a move to develop a Cultural Observatory - pulling together all of the research held on cultural activities and markets in the region. Once developed this will add a whole new strand of information to the mix.
